HOW TO MAKE SUPER ENERGY AND DELICIOUS JUICE

Sometimes we need a little jolt of energy in the morning or at midday to boost the brain and the body. The nutrition in fresh fruits and veggies assists your body so it can function in high-performance mode. These combinations will help you get the “juice high” you’re looking for. Put down the coffee and reach for an energy-centered juice.

#1 Green Jolt

Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)

This precious juice is like a lightning bolt of energy in your day.

2 apples
5 large carrots
1 handful of fresh parsley 1 broccoli stalk

1. Core the apples and cut them into slices.

2. Juice the apples, carrots, parsley, and broccoli together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.

#2 Triple Power

  • Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)
  • This ingredient trio makes a great morning energizer.
  • 2 grapefruits 1 large apple 5 kale leaves
  • 1. Cut the peels off of the grapefruits and slice them into wedges. Core the apple and cut it into slices.
  • 2. Juice the grapefruits, apple, and kale together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.

  • Wheatgrass is a great energizer that combines well with pineapple. Adding it to any juice will keep you going on raw natural energy for hours.
  • 1⁄2 of a fresh pineapple

#4 romaine lettuce leaves 1 handful of wheatgrass

  • 1. Cut the pineapple half into spears.
  • 2. Juice the pineapple, romaine lettuce, and wheatgrass together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.
JUICY TIP #1

Some juicers can juice wheat- grass and some can’t. Typically, it’s the single- or twin-gear juicers that can handle it. You can also purchase a separate manual wheatgrass juicer. If you don’t have access to fresh wheatgrass, frozen cubes and wheatgrass powder are readily available in health food stores.

4 Wheatgrass Reviver

Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)

I’m a huge fan of wheatgrass—it has never let me down. Keep frozen pre-juiced wheatgrass ice cubes in your freezer to melt in your juice so that you don’t have to keep fresh wheatgrass on hand all the time.

6 carrots
4 celery stalks
1 handful of wheatgrass

1. Juice the carrots, celery, and wheatgrass together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . (If you have one, juice the wheatgrass in a wheatgrass juicer or masticating juicer separately to get the maximum amount of liquid from the grass.) Serve immediately.

JUICY TIP
Try to stick mostly to low-sugar, vegetable-based juices when you are juicing for energy. Too much sugar can suppress your immune system.

5 Orange Vitality

Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)

This orange and kale blend not only tastes great, but it’s also full of energizing nutrients.

2 oranges
2 green apples 4 kale leaves

This very veggie combo is a great midday juice to keep you going strong.

1 red bell pepper
8 large carrots
1 small handful of fresh cilantro

1. Cut the stem off of the bell pepper and cut it into strips.

2. Juice the carrots, pepper, and cilantro together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.

8 Parsley Power

Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)

Mixing chlorophyll-rich parsley and warming ginger together in this juice will invigorate your whole body by increasing your circulation and helping to oxidize your blood.

1 lemon
1 large cucumber
1 apple
1-inch (2.5 cm) piece of fresh ginger 1 handful of fresh parsley

1. Cut the peel off of the lemon and cut it into slices. Cut the cucumber into spears. Core the apple and cut it into slices.

2. Juice the lemon, cucumber, apple, ginger, and parsley together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.

9 Sweet Potato Buzz

Makes 12 to 16 ounces (355 to 475 ml)

This is a personal favorite when I need a pick-me-up. Bonus: This one’s good for glowing skin.

3 sweet potatoes
4 large carrots
1 handful of fresh parsley

1. Cut the sweet potatoes into spears.

2. Juice the sweet potatoes, carrots, and parsley together, alternating the different kinds of produce as you juice . Serve immediately.
